First things first: I'm current! I mean, not really: I have five comics from last week that I haven't touched yet and I'm unlikely to get through them before I pick up my next batch of comics tomorrow. But, technically, with this issue, the only issues that I have to read are the most recent ones on the shelves. Yay!
Now, onto matters at hand. This issue makes slightly more sense than the last one, but only if you just sort of ignore the last one's main problem, namely, the idea that the Hell Lords want Tier dead solely because he was the seven billionth person born on Earth. That part? That part still makes no sense. But, we at least learn that, shockingly, it wasn't as simple as the Hell Lords portrayed last issue. The Hell Lords don't only want Tier dead to win their bet; they also want him dead since he can apparently kill them. It make sense. After all, if the seven billionth person was just an average Joe (even a werewolf one), he really wouldn't stand a chance against six Hell Lords.
But, that sort of brings us to our next problem. David does a pretty good job here of showing how X-Factor, working as a team, manages to stand against Pluto for a while. Lorna grabs his sword, Monet attacks him with everything she has, and everyone else tries to keep his minions from helping him. But, eventually, he shrugs off their attacks and takes down everyone with one fell swoop. He's eventually stopped by Tier, but it raises the question of how X-Factor is going to continue to protect Tier against the remaining five Hell Lords. I'm assuming that Jezebel is going to step in here somewhere, but I'm still not exactly sure what her motivations are.
So, all in all, it's a better issue than the last one, but I'm still not really buying this "seven billionth person" born nonsense. I guess we'll see where David goes with it.
