Just as I started blogging again, we moved across country. It's taken a while to get settled, but I'm happy to say that I'm reading comics again. I continued along the path I charted before my last break, focusing on the series I really liked, mostly Image and Marvel's Star Wars series. I've managed to get current on these series, and I've got over a month's worth of posts to prove it! While I make my way through those posts, I'm diving into my backlogged superhero comics. As I get current, I'l list the up-to-date series on the blog's side scroll. Onwards and upwards!
I cover a lot of different titles, with some particular attention to the previous runs of "Spider-Man 2099" and "Nova." Welcome back, Richard! Until next time, Miguel.

The End of Paternity Leave
I'm back! We're now a family of five, dog included. My paternity leave from comics, so to speak, coincided with the comics industry's coronavirus pause, so I'm only 150 comics behind, not 200+. It helped that I pared down my pull list a few months ago, reducing my superhero comics to long-time favorites like Captain America, Spider-Man, and the X-Men. However, I found that I missed these comics less than I did the non-superhero ones, such as "Die," "Undiscovered Country," or "The Weatherman." As such, I'm returning to blogging with a new approach. I'll stay current on what I'm calling the top-shelf comics, the ones that I really missed during my leave. For the rest -- mostly the superhero comics -- I'll read them once I'm current on the top-shelf ones. In terms of formatting, Blogger updated itself while I was gone, and I'm one of many people having issues with the fonts. Hopefully they'll fix it soon, but, in the meantime, you'll notice a change in the new posts. Onwards and upwards!

A Note from Management
As I mentioned a few posts ago, I found myself confronted the other week with the undeniable truth that I had a 130-issue backlog and even less time than normal to get through it. As such, we implemented some extraordinary measures around here. I stopped reviewing every issue, threw stars out the window, and limited my reviews to a few sentences. I'll post those reviews here in the next few days, with the hope of getting through the backlog by the end of next week. After that, I'm going to try to learn my lesson and not necessarily review every issue I get, to make sure that I don't slip behind so much in the future. If you're still reading, thanks for hanging in there!

We're Back!
Hello, blog, it's been a while. I just moved (again) and it's been a challenge just to get my hands on comics, let alone find the time to read them. I've got a backlog of 50 issues or so, so it's probably going to take a while to get current. (But, of course, the name of the blog is "Untimely Comics," so you really shouldn't be expecting up-to-the-minute reviews here.) The good news is that all my stuff is currently on a boat crossing the ocean and since, obviously, I brought said 50 issues or so in my carry-on luggage, I've got not much else to do other than read comics and write posts. So, here we go! I'm aiming for three a day, so hopefully we'll be current before too long.

A Brief Note on the Next Few Weeks
It's been a little slow around here on the blog because life outside the blog has been anything but slow. I just wrapped up finals last week and have been enjoying a mostly Internet-free vacation this week. I've got a backlog of books to attack when I get to my folks' house for Christmas, so you should be getting pretty frequent posts starting next week. But, since I'm not returning to Boston (and my LCS) until the end of January, once I get through the backlog, I won't have any new books to review. The good news is that I plan on resuming my "Spider-Man 2099" project. Hopefully that'll satisfy my comics craving until I return to Boston where I'll have six weeks (!) of comics waiting for me!

A Programming Note
OK, so I was trying to stick to the new "Spidey on Monday and Friday, new comics on Wednesday approach," but my comics unfortunately don't come with that sort of regularity. I often get two shipments at once, which results in a veritable deluge of new issues. So, instead, to try to be as timely as possible (or at least minimize how untimely I am), I'm going to just post new issue posts when I get a quorum of issues reviewed. I'm still going to try to stick to "Spidey on Monday and Friday," though. I'm hoping to post the three most recent Spidey reviews Monday, and the ongoing review of "Brand New Day" issues will resume on Friday. Thanks for reading!

A Programming Note
OK, so, I've just recently achieved my goal of getting current on "Amazing Spider-Man." Woot! It took around three months and over 100 issues, but I made it. I realized, however, that, if I posted in chronological order, you'd get the posts about Slott's current run on "Amazing" sometime in, like, September. As such, on Spidey Monday and Friday for the next two weeks, I'm going to post the posts I wrote about the current run. "Big Time" starts today with the Hobgoblin arc, followed by "Revenge of the Spider-Slayers" on Friday, "No One Dies" next Monday, and the Human Torch memorial issue the following Friday. Then, my Spidey review (which will continue to be stand-alone) will appear on Wednesdays with the other new comics. Thank you for your attention. May God bless America.

A Programming Note
I am within ten issues of finishing what I began a few months ago, reading all the "Brand New Day" issues of "Amazing Spider-Man" from the start. I posted my review of the first arc in the series today. I had initially intended on publishing about one a week, since I figured that'd give me blog material for a while. But, looking at my unpublished posts, I realized I've got more than 40 of them dealing with "Amazing Spider-Man" alone. So, rather than drag out the process for almost a year, I'm going to up the time frame to twice a week: once on Monday and once on Friday. I'm going to shoot to have the new comic reviews posted on Wednesdays, but my comics don't come in a reliably-consistent fashion, so that date might slip. But, it's definitely Spidey Mondays and Fridays here at "(Un)Timely Comics." Thanks all four of you for reading! Now, we return to our regularly-scheduled programming.
