First, I totally call bullshit on the cover. It makes it look like this issue picks up the story right as we left it in "Forever Evil" #4, with Power Ring facing Sinestro. But, this issue has nothing to do with that battle, in a great example of pet peeve #2.
Other than a lack of truth in advertising, this issue is fine. It's a little rushed, in the sense that we got full-issue treatments for Owlman and Ultraman, but Johns burns through Atomica, Deathstorm, Johnny Quick, and Power Ring here. We also get more insight into Grid, who decided to separate from Cyborg because he thought that Victor was bogarting all the feelings. This issue's intrigue comes from Grid discovering that information about Superwoman is mysteriously gone, something that makes him suspicious (if he were capable of feeling suspicious, harkening to the previous point). Unfortunately, I most want to know about Superwoman at this point, given that she's not Wonder Woman, but Lois Lane and, wow, that apple fell far from the tree. But, I guess we'll get there in good time. Combined with "Forever Evil" #4, though, this issue exacerbated my feeling that the story's stalled just to justify a seven-month event that could've probably been done in five.
*** (three of five stars)
