Honestly? I don't have much to say about this issue. It's a perfect Annual story. It deals with a story too large for the regular title, providing a development that adds depth to the story that Slott is telling but isn't necessary to understand it. I totally bought Otto complaining that Peter was irresponsible revealing that he makes Spider-Man's tech, so I also bought that someone would inevitably not only kidnap him (as the Hobgoblin previously did in "Amazing Spider-Man" #695), but also use Aunt May against him. In fact, the only thing that I didn't buy was that Otto didn't kill Blackout for doing it. That said, though, I buy Gage's point that he's playing a longer game, using Blackout as an example for anyone thinking of kidnapping May like he did. In that way, Otto really does clean up one of Peter's mistakes, a goal in his drive to be superior. Great stuff all around.
