Holy crap, I practically screamed at that last few panel. Ray realizing that the "Hunter" cut off his hand and left it in the field to distract him with the nanites in his blood? The Hunter holding a pitchfork and standing behind an unaware Magic? Oy. It was "Blair Witch" all over again.
The plot thickens here, though it does so slowly. Festival and Hoyt talk to the mother of the boy that the Hunter killed last issue, and they learn that it wasn't Ray that did it. They also meet Hoyt's CIA friend, and he gives them the information that he has on "Project Rising Spirit." That information will apparently send them to New Mexico and possibly to something called Bloodshot Island. The interesting part about these developments is that I'm now actually wondering if Festival and Hoyt don't wind up helping Ray in the end. If they realize that it's Rising Spirit, and not him, that's the enemy, then I wonder if they're going to work together to put an end to it. Or, maybe they'll just try to kill Ray. Or, maybe Ray will have to kill them. It could really go any way at this point.
Meanwhile, Kay returns , but Bloodsquirt has apparently jumped ship to the Hunter. I really didn't see that coming, and Lemire uses that revelation to remind us just how powerful the Hunter is. We really do have two Bloodshots at this point. Of course, it's pretty much like Highlander: there can be only one. I'm sure that'll end well for everyone involved.
