Age of X-Man: The Marvelous X-Men #5: As in "Age of X-Man: Prisoner X" #4 and "Age of X-Man: X-Tremists" #4, everything falls apart pretty quickly here, as the X-Men realize that they've been duped. It starts to go downhill when they learn that someone has killed Moneta in her search for Colossus. Nature Girl speaks to the bacteria at the scene (sure) to discover Apocalypse did it. But, the bacteria somehow also show Nature Girl what Moneta saw when she used her powers on Apocalypse, revealing the moment when Nate converted him into Hippie-pocalypse. The truth revealed, the X-Men confront X-Man. I'm long past caring about this event since, again, it's just been the same issue over and over again in each series. But at least it ends soon, I guess?
X-Force #9: I enjoyed this series, but it goes to hell in a handbasket here. After initially attacking X-Force in their first encounter, Blaquesmith magically stops time, allowing X-Force to escape the MLF to go save Cable from Stryfe. In a great example of pet peeve #3, Warpath reminds Blaquesmith that they told him that they were in the future to save Cable. Domino even suggests he could've just read their minds if he though they worked for Stryfe Of course, Blaquesmith simply replies that he doesn't have to justify his motivations to them. Sure, OK. Blaquesmith then continues with the magic, creating holographic (telegraphic?) images of X-Force to continue fighting the MLF, buying them time to escape. But, his plan doesn't work, as the MLF realizes Blaquesmith's trickery and Zero returns them to Stryfe's HQ just in time to confront X-Force. Stryfe is (rightfully) furious that his plan to destroy Clan Askani failed. The MLF engages Boomer, Domino, and Warpath, but Rachel emerges from the telepaths' control in time to save them. Meanwhile, Deathlok tries to cut Cable from his techno-organic virus. (I'm not sure how exactly that works, but, again, OK.). In other words, it's all just a mess. I'm surprised Brisson didn't mention Domino's luck powers, so often things go X-Force's way in this issue. This series had such potential, but Kid Cable has been disabled for two issues and everyone else seems just to punch each other waiting for him to return.
