Basically, every issue, I keep waiting for the events of "Forever Evil" to intrude into Dick's life, revealing his identity. Instead, Higgins almost seems to be planning a back door unique to this series, sort of like how Bruce Wayne seemed to have died at the end of "Batman R.I.P." but really died at the end of "Final Crisis." Here, Dick's roommate's cousin (I think?) discovers his identity, something that she presumably will reveal next issue, in time for the events of "Forever Evil" to coincide with the revelation. At this point, though, it's sort of awkward that his identity was revealed four months ago everywhere else but not in his own title.
All that said, this issue isn't any less confusing when it comes to the plot itself. We're left unsure if Marionette made up the stories about the Hatter abusing her to trick Dick into helping her swipe the kanium or if they were real. Either way, though, the kanium was her goal. I'm OK with that sort of ambiguity, but, to be honest, Higgins doesn't make it all that intersting. She's essentially just a drug addict looking for more drugs, despite the questions about her motivations. Let's just move to the new status quo and stop stalling.
** (two of five stars)
